DOT MY Domains are the Top Level Domains of Malaysia. These are domains ending with MY. The DOT MY Domains of interest to the public are Dot.Com.MY, Dot.Org.MY, Dot.Net.MY and Dot.Name.MY

MY Domains are not freely registered like for eg International Top Level Domains. There are rules which differ according to which extensions you are registering for.

Specific Rules for MY Domains

1.   DOT COM.MY requires that the registrant be registered by Registrar of Companies in Malaysia, also known as Pendaftar Syarikat or the Registrar of Business, Pendaftar Perniagaan.

2.   DOT NET.MY is for network-related organisations or entities running network-related activities

3.   DOT ORG.MY is for non profit organisations registered by the Registrar of Societies, Pendaftar Persatuan.

4.   DOT NAME.MY can only be registered by individuals holding Malaysian National Identity Card (NRIC) age above 18. Each individual can register for a maximum of 8 Dot NAME.MY domains with each NRIC. For non Malaysian, proof of residence in Malaysia, valid passport and are age above 18

Basic Rules for MY Domains

1.   The allowable character set includes the letters 'a' to 'z', the numbers '0' to '9' and hyphen '-'.

2.   No domain may start with or end with hyphen '-'.

3.   The minimum number of characters is 1 while the maximum is 40.

4.   Only lower case is allowed when registering for Dot MY domains as the domain name system is case sensitive.

5.   Countries, State names, religious terms or offensive words are prohibited.
